Notes from the
show:
"It was a modest crowd
that showed up for what could very well have been the last
night to enjoy rock 'n roll in this venue. Just a
couple months ago, this club was known as AR3.
Under new management starting in January of 2006, ambitious
plans were begun to make this one of the Midwest's premiere
clubs for seeing the area's finest musical talent. We
were lucky to have been apart of AR3's initial
success on more than one occasion. On every occasion,
the owners and staff treated us beyond great! So we
were sad to hear that despite some early successes, they
were not able to sustain a direction of profitability and
decided to sell the venue back to the previous owner, Dave.
We were grateful for
Dave to allow us to play one last time in Arena. It is
not exactly known what will become of the The Sports
Arena at this time. There are many radical ideas
about its future going around and none of them involve a
venue for bands to perform. Whatever happens, I will
always have good memories about performing there.
Just prior to the
management turnover, Sonic Rush had secured
three additional play dates including the big New Year's Eve
show. After the turnover occurred, it was agreed that
it might be best to do whatever was necessary to keep the
August 26th play date given that it was such short notice
for the band (and the fans). Since then, the club was
opened only once to play host for a local motorcycle event.
We understood that the club would be reopened and staffed
(just for us) to allow our fans one last opportunity to come
rock with us.
A big "THANK YOU" goes
out to Martina for once again giving us the royal treatment.
You have been very helpful to us over the past few months
and we greatly appreciate everything you've done for us and
we are looking forward to continuing that relationship
beyond today. Thanks also go out to Reggie, Shelli,
and "Kurt's Mom" for helping us out with the businesses
'behind-the-scenes'.
And to all the ARENA
fans who joined us Saturday (and previous shows)...THANX for
the memories! :-)
