Notes from the
show:
"Fall is upon us and
with it brings falling temperatures. Throughout the
night, I could see my own breath and it was interesting to
look over at Chris and see steam coming from the top of his
head all night. His head looked like it was on fire!
I arrived a little
later (coming from my other job) and so we sound checked
late. Looking back, I wish we'd had taken a bit more
time to get set because I had the drums/vocals much lower
than I like in my monitors. That was evident when I
fell off the beat on a couple songs early in the first set
and my performance wasn't as tight as usual. Oh well,
the show goes on...and it got better as the night went on.
The Avoca Rural EMS
had several softball events going on all day/night and a
nearby beer garden was catering to everyone's refreshment
and hunger needs. It's hard to get a judge on how many
people actually show up to these outside events, but I was
amazed at how many kids there were. In fact, we were
greeted after the first set by many of them asking for
autographs and photos. As I've said before, it's fun
to play for kids because they're have such honest opinions
about your performance. :)
Despite being a small
town, Avoca is not short on enthusiastic people looking for
a good time. From what I heard, there wasn't a single
person in Avoca that didn't know there was a party going on
at the park. We hope to be back next year!
