Notes from the
show:
"If you ever wondered
what happened to the Transylvania Twist...well, it's
now the Monster Mash. And everyone that
attended our Halloween Bash at Bootleggers this weekend
witnessed how much fun it is to "mash" with Sonic Rush!
I found it rather
difficult to play with a mask on over my face. The
mask limits your vision and can also make it difficult to
breath. Personally, I have no idea how some bands are
able to pull it off on a regular basis. For atleast
the first few songs, I played the role of Freddy
Krueger...Kurt went as a pirate...Pedro was some kind of
ghoul with a giant black wig...Kyle, a member of Spinal
Tap...and Crisco was a gynecologist. It wasn't long
before we decided to strip out of our costumes and get back
into some more comfortable clothes suitable for rock and
roll. We were fairly tight throughout the night and we
tried a few things that continue to make things interesting
during the show. Kyle and Pedro ripped up the stage
with a funky piece that raised some eyebrows...I've started
licking my guitar strings on stage...and, in the spirit of
the holiday, we all tried pulling off an impromptu version
of "The Monster Mash" with me singing lead vocals.
Over all, it was a pretty cool.
A costume contest was
held about halfway through the show and there certainly were
some interesting ones. Andy (from
Zaniac) and Wendy
were definitely two of the best looking pirates in
attendance. There certainly were plenty of ghouls to
go around. The winning costume went to a couple of
guys dressed as a priest and schoolboy (respectively) and if
you weren't there...you'll have to guess what their theme
was because I'm going to bury that visual. Thanks to
Kathy for coming out once again, btw...the pictures look
good. I hope I get a chance to see the video.
Thanks to Josh for helping out at the end of the night...you
sounded very good filling in on "Crazy Train" once more.
The Bootleggers staff
was great very kind in keeping us comfortable throughout the
night. They were especially instrumental in diffusing
a couple unruly situations at the door and keeping people
under control around the stage area. Thanks to all of
you!
And thanks to all of
you Sonic Rush fans for helping us raise the dead!
Happy Halloween!
